Welcome to Pausify. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using Pausify, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Pausify stores all data locally on your Android device. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. The following data is stored in a local database:
App Usage Data
- List of apps you choose to block
- Daily time limits you set for each app
- Daily usage statistics (time spent in apps)
- Number of times apps were blocked
- Dates and timestamps of usage sessions
Blocking Configuration
- Schedule-based blocking rules (time ranges and days)
- Locked session history (duration, apps, completion status)
- App preferences and settings (theme, notifications)
1.2 Android System Permissions
To function properly, Pausify requires the following Android system permissions:
Accessibility Service
- Purpose: Detect when blocked apps are launched to show the pause screen
- What it accesses: App launch events and package names
- Data storage: None. We only read events in real-time to trigger blocking
- Why it's essential: This is the core mechanism for blocking apps
Usage Stats Access
- Purpose: Track daily app usage time to enforce time limits
- What it accesses: Aggregated usage statistics for installed apps
- Data storage: Daily usage totals stored locally in our database
- Why it's essential: Required to calculate if daily limits are exceeded
Important: These permissions are used ONLY to provide app blocking functionality. We do not monitor your activity outside of blocked apps, read app content, messages, or personal data, track your location, or access contacts, photos, or other personal files.
2. How We Use Your Data
All data processing happens entirely on your device. We use your data to:
- Enforce blocking rules – Block apps when daily limits are exceeded or schedules are active
- Display statistics – Show you insights about your app usage and blocking history
- Maintain locked sessions – Track commitment sessions you create
- Provide motivation – Display randomized quotes when apps are blocked
- Remember your preferences – Store theme settings, onboarding completion status
We do NOT:
- Share your data with third parties
- Use your data for advertising
- Sell your data to anyone
- Upload your data to cloud servers
- Use analytics or tracking services
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local Storage Only
All data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your device using Android's Room persistence library. The database is accessible only by Pausify (sandboxed by Android OS), deleted if you uninstall the app, and not backed up to cloud services by default.
